Nestled on the Ohio River in historic Ripley, Ohio, Ripley Banjo Works offers banjo and guitar instruction for beginning and advanced musicians, and is the home of Gunpowder Creek, the acoustic music duo that plays the authentic sounds of American folk and traditional music to listeners throughout Ohio and Kentucky. Ben and Kim Pedigo restored the 1860, Italianate style rowhouse overlooking the Ohio River where they recently started working with aspiring and experienced musicians on five-string banjo and acoustic guitar instruction. Ben has performed with many bands throughout Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio, and has now established a new group, Gunpowder Creek, with Forrest Utley on guitar and Ben on mandolin and 5-string banjo. Ben and Forrest perform at festivals, fairs and state parks throughout Kentucky and Ohio. After being brothers-in-law for over 15 years, they discovered they could make great music together! Both have played music for years, and have worked with many well-known musicians such as Bill Monroe.
